Just saw you on Scene on 7. It's to your credit that you were able to counter Lee Rogers' comments with civility. Lee was so negative about compromise and reaching across the aisle. Lee epitomizes everything that is wrong with the far right of the Republican party. Digging in their heels and refusing to do the nation's business unless their social agenda is followed creates a stalemate, which undermines our constitution. The Republicans would be happiest if the United States were a plutocracy with the only party being their party. Both frustrating and frightening.

Hey, Roxanne. Shaping up to be a go-to-the-mattresses sort of week, huh? Ah, democracy...

Hi Roxanne,

I have missed you over the years since the Love and Hudson show. When I was mayor of Simpsonville, we had Love and Hudson down for our Chamber of Commerce Banquet. I was disappointed that you didn't come and afford me an opportunity to meet you in person.

You all had a great thing going, and though I am not aware of all of the particulars, ending the show was a big disappointment to many, many, listeners. Anyway, it sounds as if things are going well for you, and I am pleased that you were able to make a "sentimental journey" back to your roots. God bless you and your parents!

Hi, Roxanne

How are you? I never forgot you and the people I worked with at WMYI when I was there in 1994. I see that Alice has posted on here too. Please tell her hello also. Wow, where does the time go? I'm guessing your son Ben is about to finish high school. I remember seeing photos of him in the news room when he was still in diapers. I'm living in northern VA now and working in medical logistics. I earned a second Bachelor's Degree (Meteorology) in 2008 from UNC-Charlotte. I still miss radio and the "old times." That is, back before automation and syndication took over. All the best to you!

Hi, Roxanne!

This is a very belated "hello" from Katie Crawford; we actually met last Spring at The Sun: Into the Fire retreat up at Wildacres in Little Switzerland, N.C. I introduced myself to you and did a bit of fawning by telling you I'd grown up in Greenville listening to you. And you responded by hitting the nail on the head: You said I'd probably listened to you in carpool on the way to and from school.

I hope your writing and all other work is going well. I'm finally getting around to reconnecting with folks from the retreat, and just wanted to say hi. Glad I've found your site and blog.

All the best,

Katherine Scott Crawford (Katie)

Roxanne,

Your Guest Column today in the GN led me to recall some good work I saw CARE do for small businesses in Zambia, Africa.I was doing a productivity consulting job for the Zambian Government in 1998. It was my opinion that the only hope for growing a middle class was not with the Zambian Goverment but with the Provincial Business Association started by a few ladies in the capital two years earlier with a small grant from CARE. I was invited to participate in their 2nd annual national meeting. I was thoroughly impressed with this group and their accomplishments in such a short time. I also had a new respect for CARE.

Someone was wondering when Monty Dupuy got into radio. Monty and I were students at a prep school in Asheville in 1945_6_7 and he strung up a little antenna outside his window and with a couple watts started his own radio station which probably carried no more that 100 feet. That's how he got started.

Nice Statehouse article, the Wendy Nanney's are the few women that seem to agree with the male majority that womens reproductve rights are something they seem to know more about than the rest of us.
