Living History on Auburn Street in Atlanta
My wonderful husband just took me to Atlanta for the weekend. On Friday night we saw the Atlanta Braves vs. the Washington Nationals at Turner Field. After a gloomy rainy day, we lucked out on the weather, just dodging a few stray rain drops and the Braves one with a home run. On Saturday we toured Ebenezer Baptist Church, the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic site and the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Non-Violent Social Change.
Love Hate Relationship
I love women. I reveared both my grandmother’s, have a strong relationship with my mother and have acquired and maintained friendships with a plethora of girl friends. I love the easy camaraderie women have with each other, how quickly we share intimate personal history and hard humbling truths. But at the same time as I love women, I also acknowledge the fact that women can be bitches. The hurtful things women do to each other is not equaled among men.

I’ve been worried about access to legal abortion in America for years. Instead of trying to overturn Roe v. Wade anti abortion forces in recent years have set to restrict access and have been wildly successful especially in conservative states like South Carolina. GOP led legislatures have mandated ultrasounds, 24 hour waiting periods and excessive clinic regulations including that the doctors preforming abortions have medical privileges at local hospitals. The barriers to legal abortion in America have become insurmountable for many pregnant women especially the poor.
